Uğur Doğrusöz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Bilkent University. He served as the director of the Bilkent Center for Bioinformatics from foundation in 2002 to 2010. Dr. Doğrusöz worked for Tom Sawyer Software of Berkeley, California in different roles from software engineer to product manager to Vice President of Engineering for a number of years before joining Bilkent. His research interests fall into the areas of information visualization, design of graph algorithms, and bioinformatics.
He received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering in 1989 from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He finished his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science, in 1991, 1995, respectively, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, New York. He is the recipient of National Young Scientist Career Development Award from TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey). His research has been published in various prestigious journals including Nature Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications.
