Trusting Root certificates from Mozilla Thunderbird and/or Firefox

  • Download the Department Root Certificate to your computer.
  • Choose Edit → Preferences from Thunderbird. Following window will open. Then click on Privacy and click Manage Certificated button. (For Windows: Choose Tools → Options).
    Note: For Firefox, the setting is in a different place from one that is shown in the picture below, it's in Advanced → Certificates.

  • From the certificate manager window, choose authorities.

  • Click import to add a root certificate. Following file selection dialog will appear. Select the certificate and click Open. (Repeat this step and following two steps for each certificate you will be adding.)

  • Select the trust attributes and click OK.

  • After you installed certificates, you should see them in the authorities section as shown below. Close all windows.
